Update 1/16/16 – With God’s help and by your prayers and support, the bridge has been repaired and reopened!

On December 25, the Feast of St. Herman and New Calendar Christmas Day, West Virginia experienced extremely heavy rainfall resulting in major widespread flooding and landslides. As a result, the culvert pipe below the bridge which connects Miller’s Fork Road to the monastery gates is on the brink of collapse.
The Hermitage of the Holy Cross began the celebration of its patronal feast day on Saturday the 26th and Sunday the 27th of September – the great feast of the Exaltation of the Precious & Life-giving Cross of the Lord.
According to monastery custom, the pilgrimage weekend took place on the Saturday and Sunday following the Exaltation, October 3-4. Clergy and pilgrims came from near and far for the annual event, which this year was led by the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion.
On Saturday the 8th and Sunday the 9th of August, the brethren of Holy Cross Monastery in Wayne, WV, along with His Grace Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan and a multitude of pilgrims, celebrated the feast day of their monastery’s heavenly patron, the Holy Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon.
Schemamonk John, who had been afflicted with cancer and who had returned the Hermitage several weeks earlier, peacefully went to the Lord at 11:50pm on Sunday night of the Feast of St. Panteleimon.
