Glory be to God, Fr. Seraphim was released from the hospital this afternoon and returned home to the monastery tonight after Vespers! We thank God for bringing our beloved abbot back to us, and we thank all the countless people who have joined together with us in prayer for his health and recovery. Please continue to keep these prayers up, as he regathers his strength and continues to undergo several related medical procedures in the coming days and weeks.

On Monday, September 27 the brotherhood of Holy Cross Monastery celebrated their patronal feast day, the Exaltation of the Precious Cross. Celebrations were led by Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan, and during the Hierarchal Divine Liturgy he ordained Fr. Isaac to the holy diaconate.

UPDATE: as of Thursday, August 12, Archimandrite Seraphim, Fr. Benedict, and Fr. Damascene have all been released from the hospital and are recovering at home. Altogether 20 of our 26 community members have fallen ill with the coronavirus, but thanks be to God and to St. Panteleimon everyone is either stable or recovering.

In consultation with our monastery physician, Archimandrite Seraphim has decreed effectively immediately that all masking and social distancing requirements have been lifted at Holy Cross Monastery for our pilgrims and visitors (regardless of vaccination status). We now only ask that anyone who is having symptoms or who has been exposed to someone with symptoms in the past two weeks refrain from visiting.
