Like frankincense, myrrh is resin from trees that grow primarily in parts of Arabia and Africa. Myrrh resin, however, has a fragrance completely different from frankincense—warm, earthy, spicy and slightly bitter (the word "myrrh" in fact comes from a Hebrew root meaning "bitter"). For centuries, myrrh has been used in the worship of God, often being combined with frankincense, to which it makes an excellent complement.

These multi-colored resins are processed by the monks, to rid them of obvious impurities and break them down to a small enough size for easy burning.

THAT MYRRH

The incense is wonderful. Forgot that myrrh deposits a wet leafmeal aroma that lingers long after burning. So I throw in a pinch when I combine resins. Must try the mix that the brothers and sisters at the holy sight. The soaps are excellent too. I support folks on a sincere mission. Contemplating the sacred and preserving EO culture on the side of a mountain takes love and grit. Good luck. Returning customer and supporter.

Beautiful Myrrh

Many of the pieces of resin are generously large, which produce copious amounts of smoke for a long time, even unto the end of the age. ;)

Contrary to some reviews of myrrh (in general and not from this vendor) I decided to try it. The scent is great. Sweet, earthy and fruity.
I mixed it with frankincense and the blend is very nice.
I highly recommend purchasing Myrrh from Holy Cross Monastery.
