St. Luke of Simferopol (1877-1961)—at once a renowned surgeon and a bishop of the Orthodox Church —was a true father, shepherd and healer for the faithful through decades of Communist persecution behind the 'iron curtain'. His grace-filled skill as a surgeon, even in the worst conditions, brought healing to countless people wherever he was. Revered throughout the Ukraine and Russia, miracles still abound through his intercessions.  He is especially called upon by those facing surgery.
