St. Paisios the New (1924-1994) was one of the most loved and revered Greek Orthodox Elders of our times. Living as a monk in the ancient monastic republic of Mount Athos, Greece, he lived in the Kingdom of God even while on earth, and received many heavenly visitations. Because he lived in obscurity, giving himself over entirely to God, God gave him to the whole world. During the last fifteen years of his life, he spent his nights in prayer and his entire days guiding, consoling, healing, and giving spiritual rest to countless people who took shelter in him. This series turned out to be one of my favorite books to enjoy each morning and read. It is a true collection of the conversational lessons he shared with the nuns at their monastery over years and to help them progress while answering life’s big questions. Each page is a joy to read and learn from. I’m still reading them and highly recommend getting the six volumes together. Like having Greek coffee every morning, it brings peace and heritage to my soul. God bless the nuns for documenting St. Paisios’ words.
